A confidential enclosure, except for a peephole with a wide angle lens. A motor is heard from the inside. Only the one who have access to the peephole can see what is happening inside, a crowd formed and queuing occur soon. It is up to the viewers themselves to hand over to the next, everyone will not be able to see. Because neither the motorcycle or the motorcycleman on the inside last for more than about 20 minutes. What has happened can only each individual witness, they can compare their stories but no one knows for sure that they experienced the same as anyone else.
The12th of May 2009 I made a unique performance for each individual visitor. I used a peephole with wide angle lens to create a distance between the viewer and me. Firstly I do not know who sees me, also the viewers perception of the situation becomes fragmented. While the show seemingly takes place at a distance, due to the lens, so it is just a 1mm thin plasic canvas between us, the sound is perceived contrast strongly for everybody on-site. The longer the performance continues, the worse the mototcycle functioning and I lose my focus and control. At one point I fall under the motorcycle. This was very stressful because I knew that someone was standing a few feet away from me and watched me, I was nearly forced to cancel already after ten minutes. The last five minutes I drove repeatedly into fences and accidently injured atleast one man when I lost control and the motorcycle drove straight into the wall where the peephole was located.
