The sculpture refer to a V8 engine in real size, made of the shapeless material rubber foam. As an engine per definition is function and precision a contrast apears and questions about what is form and function are addressed. By a closer look details are missing, some proportions are weird. The model for the piece is actually an other model, a toy kit that represent a Corvette C2 "Sting Ray" 1963-1967 that I got for Christmas as a child. At that time I was to young to build it my self, I didn't finish more than the engine, "that was the most delicate". I want in this piece reduce the definiton of a motor from function to form and show the playfullness in the creating process.
