the crownpike 2006-2007
The Crownpike was an prolonged project which was based on one of my constantly recurring nightmares about dying pikes. When I in summer 2006 succeeded to catch a pike, my art-project began to take form. It started with a suggestive video based on my nightmare. Thereafter I made a tribute monument over the fallen pike, containing 26 oilpaintings placed in an ornamental pattern, one pair of drawing collage, and four photographs of the dead cut up pike stuffed in plastic freezebags. Finally I wanted to reconstruct the dead pike's movement. A grave chamber / barrel organ similar closet, containing two sections. One mechanical section, and one display case. A crank transfer the power via a rickety mechanical construction to four hold spots in a sculptured pike, making it swim with a jerky movement.
